In the rugged, sun-soaked landscapes of Nevada, a tempest is brewing. It’s not a natural calamity, but a storm of athletic prowess, grit, and tenacity – a tempest known as the Nevada Storm, a professional women’s tackle football team whose name resonates with force across the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) Pro National Division.

Currently bearing a 1-2 record in WFA Pro, the Storm may seem clouded by uncertainty. However, in true Nevada fashion, their spirits are as unyielding as the desert terrain. Amid the fluctuations of the season, their mission remains steadfast: to cultivate the growth of women’s tackle football, to ignite the spirit of sportsmanship, and to sow the seeds of success for women in the community.

This is not just a football team. It’s a convocation of female gladiators, a whirlwind of talent, and a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes. The Nevada Storm is the embodiment of the journey towards empowerment, diversity, and respect in women’s tackle football.

Established in the spring of 2010, the team’s genesis was humble yet audacious. With a roster of just six visionaries, the Nevada Storm learned the ropes of America’s favorite sport, and through the trials and tribulations of the early days, the seeds of greatness were sown.

Their evolution was a spectacle to behold. By 2012, the roster had grown to twenty stalwart women, and the Nevada Storm, under the direction of former Head Coach Joel Primus and former owner Jeff Leathers, ascended to the WSFL’s Division and Regional Champions. They completed the season undefeated, with a staggering margin of victory of 239 to 32 – a testament to the team’s burgeoning prowess.

Despite several challenging seasons, the Storm’s resolve never wavered. In 2018, they won the most games since 2013, and a golden opportunity propelled them to the IWFL National Championship Game. The taste of this high-stakes competition only served to stoke the fire of their ambition.

The whirlwind year of 2019 saw the Storm thundering to a 10-1 overall winning record. They remained undefeated in Division 3 and clinched the #1 seed in the division. In an adrenaline-fueled game against the three-time defending National Champions, the Orlando Anarchy, the Storm came out victorious, winning 62-45. It was a season that etched their name in the annals of women’s tackle football history.

The unanticipated hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic was a setback, but the Storm rode it out with unwavering determination. When they returned in 2021, they charged headlong into the season, completing it undefeated! The team fought tooth and nail in playoffs and advanced to the National Championships, where they bested the Detroit Dark Angels 42-18.

The 2022 season, while proving a challenge as the team moved up to the WFA Pro, was a testament to the Storm’s indomitable spirit. Despite facing powerhouse teams such as the Minnesota Vixens and the Cali War, the Storm recorded a commendable 4-3 overall record. Their spectacular comeback from a 20-point deficit against the Minnesota Vixens was nothing short of a marvel in the annals of women’s football.

The Storm’s journey to the 2023 season is paved with high hopes and undying resolve. The players of the Nevada Storm are not just athletes; they are symbols of tenacity, embodying a storm that rages against all odds. The roar of the crowd, the clashing of helmets, the exultation of victory, and the lessons of defeat – all converge to shape the essence of the Nevada Storm.

As the sun sets over the Nevada horizon, the Storm is ready to rise once again, eager to meet the challenges of the new season head-on. These are the women who brave the storms, on and off the field, their spirits as resilient as the Nevada desert.

In the heart of the Silver State, under the relentless sun and against the chilling desert winds, a tale of strength, perseverance, and resilience is being written. It is the saga of the Nevada Storm. For they are not just players in a game; they are harbingers of change in women’s tackle football. They are the Nevada Storm, and they are ready to create a maelstrom in the world of sports.
